Gretta’s Hamster Rescue

Gretta’s Hamster Rescue (GHR) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in Westminster, Colorado. GHR was launched in 2021 by 14-year old Copland LaBerge. Named after a beloved hamster that passed away 3 days before Christmas, GHR was established with the idea that all hamsters deserve loving homes with proper care.

“As a hamster-parent, I learned more and more about the needs of hamsters and the closeness that can develop between a human and a hamster. I started Gretta’s Hamster Rescue in honor of Gretta and to make sure that all hamsters get the care and love they need.”

The Next Step

Copland was recently accepted into Purdue’s highly competitive, accelerated BS/DVM Veterinary Scholars program. He starts there in the fall and will begin his studies to become a Veterinarian. GHR will continue to run from its same home base, but Copland will run it from a distance.
